Display ads cost $40 per column inch. Special prices apply to the following sizes:

A discount of 15% is given for each order of six or more consecutive insertions of the same size ad.

Graphic services
Friends Journal can prepare your display ad for you. We offer typesetting and design services at an hourly rate of $67. Feel free to ask us for an estimate.

Display ad submission instructions
Prices are for ads that are ready for insertion. They may be:

• PDF files
• QuarkXPress or Pagemaker 7 Macintosh files, and files for all graphics and fonts. Grafics: TIFF images sized to 100%, resolution of grayscale images at 300 dpi and bitmap images at 600 dpi.
• Scannable (clear, solid black and white) ads containing no screens or grayscale artwork

Ads that do not fit these categories may incur charges at $67 per hour. We can do any or all of the work on your ad, as needed. Call us if you have questions.

Please include a laserprint of your ad if it is submitted as a computer file or a negative.

Classified
Classified ads are $.80 per word, with a minimum charge of $25. Add 10% if boxed.

Classified discounts: There is a 10% discount for each order of three to five consecutive insertions of the same ad, 25% for each order of six or more consecutive insertions of the same ad

A logo or other artwork may be included in your boxed classified ad for an additional $19.

Meeting Directory
A listing of monthly meetings of the Religious Society of Friends appears in the February, April, June, August, October, and December issues.

Meeting notices are charged at a rate of $20 per line per year, $26 minimum, payable a year in advance. There is no discount. Entry charges and changes in a current listing cost $14.

Circulation
Friends Journal is published monthly. Circulation is approximately 8,000; readership is estimated at approximately 24,000. On average, each copy of the JOURNAL is read by three persons.
Over three-quarters of our readers are college graduates and Quaker in conviction or orientation.
Friends Journal is distributed internationally.

Contract and copy regulations
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations after the Ad Copy Deadline may not be possible. Advertisers are financially responsible for ads canceled after the deadline.

Advertisements may be deferred to the next issue due to space limitations.

The acceptance and publication of an advertisement does not imply endorsement by Friends Journal or the Religious Society of Friends. Friends Journal reserves the right to reject advertisements considered inconsistent with the beliefs and testimonies of the Religious Society of Friends.

Friends Journal reserves the right to reject or cancel any advertisement and to label as "advertisement" one which, in the opinion of the editors, simulates editorial layout and appearance.

The publisher is not responsible for errors contained in any copy submitted.

Foreign advertisers: Checks must be drawn on a U.S. bank. International Money Orders, VISA, and MasterCard accepted.

Friends Journal does not guarantee placement location on any particular page or section of the magazine.

2008/2009 Deadlines

Advertisers are encouraged to call in space reservations as early as possible, as the ad space allocated for each issue can get filled up well ahead of reservation deadlines indicated above.
